Woodland Mushroom Hunt

Yesterday, my friend Dana and I went hunting for mushrooms in the woods. We had a bucket of pond creatures in tow the entire time… they had been brought to the lab for a field biology class and our task yesterday was to return them to the pond. Here are some of the things we saw along the way.

Awaiting ID

Cute little mushroom growing out of a dark hole in a tree trunk…

More mushrooms in a tree trunk — awaiting ID.

Dead Man’s Fingers (Xylaria polymorpha) — growing out from beneath a log.

Awaiting ID…

Very rubbery, ear like mushrooms on a log. Jew’s Ear?
